Get in, it’s time to stop the cult of Zamorakian wizards from summoning Delrith. That’s what you will face during the first quest of this series. Demon Slayer RS3 is part of the Fifth Age and the Pathfinder timeline, where a mighty demon was summoned to destroy the city of Varrock, and you have to stop him, or at least try it out. Come with us, and find a way to stop the Zamorakian wizards and all their plans.
Demon Slayer RS3: Requirements
For RS3 Demon Slayer Task, there won’t be a long list of requirements. This is good news since this quest is available for everyone who plays RuneScape 3, and it’s a short-length quest. There are no item requirements to go through the Demon Slayer in RS3, but we can give you some recommendations that will make your life easier during the journey, so let’s jump into them.
- Melee armor (it can be any one you like; you don’t need a specific one).
- Food (it’s a must, regardless of the Combat level you have).
And… that’s it. However, you will need to prepare yourself to defeat 10 level 1 Skeletons, 9 level 1 Cultists, and face a level 15 Delrith that will only use Melee to attack you. Apart from this exception, the experience should be straightforward.
Demon Slayer Guide RS3
To start this adventure, you must be at Varrock, and talk with Gideon Bede. Finding him is easy since he will be at the Saradominist Church, located on the north of the Varrock Museum. This museum is in the northeast of Varrock. Once you are there, you will begin with the quest Demon Slayer in RS3.
Stolen Book
When you start talking to Gideon, he will tell you about the recent incident; the followers of Zamorak, Denath, stole the ancient Tome of Demonology that was in the Edgeville Monastery. This book has been used for generations, and it has the instruction to summon a powerful demon named Delrith. This is why Gideon is tracking Denath to stop him from being able to perform the ritual to summon this mighty demon.
He will ask you to retrieve the lone sword, the Silverlight, that has the ability to kill Delrith. This is a backup plan if Gideon's efforts can’t stop Denath from summoning the demon. You will find the Silverlight sword in the crypt below the Saradominist Church, watched by its previous owners.
The Trials
Once you finish your talk with Gideon, you have to head to the crypt by climbing down the trapdoor located in the same room you are in, to the south of him. You must walk to the north until you see three spirits. Each of them is linked to an attribute, the Spirit of the Mind, the Spirit of the Body, and the Spirit of Faith. They are the guardians of the Silverlight sword, and you have to pass three tests to prove you are worthy to take the sword.
You can begin the trial by speaking with any spirit first, as there is no order in which the tests must be completed; you just need to have completed all three to continue with the quest.
The Mind
The Spirit of the Mind is located in the eastern room, and he will test your focus on the job at hand. He will ask you some questions you have to answer to pass the test. Here are the questions the Spirit of the Mind will do to you and the answers you should give him:
- Why are you in this place? – I seek Silverlight.
- And what is Silverlight? – A sword that slays demons.
- Why do you require a sword that slays demons? – A powerful demon threatens Varrock.
- Who is this demon? – Delrith
- And who sends you to claim Silverlight and fight Delrith? – Gideon Bede
When you finish answering all his questions, and he is content, the spirit will go back to the altar that is in the central room.
The Faith
You will find the Spirit of Faith in the northern room; for this test, you have to walk on an invisible path while the Spirit is guiding you through it. At some points on the path, it will become visible when you walk over the path. We recommend, while doing this test, to only take one step at a time because it’s essential to wait until the Spirit of Faith guides you in the next direction. In any case, if you step off the invisible path, you will fall into the chasm, but you won’t die; you will be placed at the beginning of the trial again. it’s like a respawn to start over once more. Here’s the order you must follow to complete the invisible path:
- North
- North
- North
- East
- East
- North
- North
- North
- West
- West
- South
- West
- West
- North
- North
- North
- North
Once you are at the other side of the chasm, you have to walk back and enter the central room. However, this time, you don’t need to follow a certain path, just step back and head to the final trial.
The Body
The Spirit of the Body is in the west cavern; enter and speak with him. He will test your physical ability to wield the Silverlight sword. This trial will focus on defeating 10 Skeletons piled up. Beware, the first two will attack you first, and then 3 more will rise when you defeat the first 2. Once you are done with those three, 5 Skeletons will rise and attack you. They are immobile, and use ranged attacks with a maximum hit of 4. A good strategy is to hide behind one of the pillars and fight them with magic or ranged attacks while covering you from the attacks of the other Skeletons. Just as the others, the spirit will go back to the altar in the central room if pleased with your performance.
Silverlight
After succeeding in the trials, go back to the central room and talk to the spirits again. This time, they will take down the barrier to provide you with access to the Silverlight sword. Now, you can take the sword from the altar, grab it and head back to the stairs then go up again to the Church. Once you are inside the church again, you will find Gideon left you a scroll near the ladder to the north. In this scroll, he will tell you that he knows where Denath is. The wizard is at the Temple located in the southeast of Varrock; to find the spot you should go south of Aubry’s rune shop.
Head to the Temple, and upon your arrival, you have to climb down the trap door that is outside the entrance. When you are in, you will meet Gideon again. If, for any reason, you lose or destroy the Silverlight sword or it is mounted in your Quest Hall, Gideon will give you a replacement. You will have to fight the Cultists to make your way through before entering the room with the magical barrier; a great way to finish quickly is to stand next to Gideon. He will help you to kill the cultists, and you will receive the XP from the one he defeats. After you defeat all the Cultists, the magic barrier will disappear.
Fighting The Demon
To keep going with Demon Slayer in RS3, you must pass the final barrier. A cutscene will begin, showing you confronting Delrith and a group of his cultists; you can also see the demonology book in a Zamorakian symbol. You mustn’t click anywhere during this cutscene; it will repeat the scene from the start again. Delrith will provoke Gideon for not being able to stop him before the ritual completion. He will teleport away, leaving his cultists behind.
After this, Delrith will appear where the demonology book was; now, it doesn’t exist because it was burned. The demon is ready to destroy and create chaos over the city; at this point, Delrith will try to attack you with a powerful blast, but Gideon will shield you, and the demon only succeeds in killing his cultists.
It’s time to defeat the demon using the Silverlight sword you got from the spirits. You can use an alternative sword, Darklight but thoese are the only two weapons in the game you can use to kill him. Of course, there are some exceptions, like off-hand weapons, but you still need to equip the Silverlight or Darklight in the main hand slot.
Every time Delrith loses 250 life points, he will shout “Prepare to be incinerated!”, and launch a magic attack. You can protect yourself against this attack by being close to Gideon since he will create a protective shield around himself, and he will tell you to get beneath it. In any case, if you don’t protect yourself, the attack will reach you and leave you with only 1 life point; otherwise, you will only receive 20% damage based on your current life points. Gideon will teleport automatically somewhere else in the room.
You mustn’t wear any certain Saradomin items like Royal Dragonhinge Armor or Armadyl Armor because it won’t let you hit Delrith. Moreover, you can use food to restore your health during the fight, but if you run out of it, you may restore it by just leaving the room and entering again. As we mentioned before, Gideon will give you another Silverlight sword if you die during the fight, but you need to go to the catacombs to get it.
After killing the demon, the room will start to collapse, but Gideon will help you, teleporting you both to the Saradomin Church one more time. The only thing left to do is to speak with him; this will complete the RS3 Demon Slayer quest.
