RS3 Requirements The Spirit of War

- Completion of Vessel of the Harbinger quest
- 65 Necromancy
- Necromancy Combat Gear
- Two Backpack Spaces
- Powerbush of Acceleration
- Food
- Ability to defeat level 732 Hermod, The Spirit of War
RS3 The Spirit of War Quest
To begin with The Spirit of War RS3, you must head northwest of the City of Um and interact with Kharen by her gondola. She will ferry you once you feel ready to face Rasial, the First Necromancer, in his citadel. She will ask you for four obols as payment for your ride with her. You'll need to collect the obols, and lucky for you (but unfortunately for the souls in Um) Angurvadal has been harassing all of the residents. So you can gain obols by guiding lost souls found at Lake Mnemosyne back to the city.
Collecting Obols
Since obols are not physical items, you'll need to keep your eye on the chatbox where your progress will be tracked. At this stage of The Spirit of War RS3, Kharen will tell you to rent a rowboat from Ed in the boat hire shed northeast of her location. Once you meet with Ed, speak with him and rent the rowboat. You must row around the lake and obtain four Wayward Souls that are wandering around on the lake that surrounds the city.
To collect the souls, you can use Surge and Dive while rowing around in the rowboat. If you have a hard time finding the souls, they are located in the northwest, northeast, southeast, and southwest corners of the lake. You won’t be able to identify any of them by using the minimap, so we recommend heading to the location instead.
When you finally collect the four souls, you will have two options: disembark in any of the docks on the west side of the City of Um or simply teleport. Return to Kharen and give her the obols, and she will reward you with 25 souls. She will be happy with the payment and will take you to Rasial’s Citadel. Before doing so, we recommend you prepare for the fight.
Note: Though not necessary for the completion of RS3 The Spirit of War, when completing your lap around the city, you can speak with Deano and Sammy and you will receive an additional 25 souls from each of them.
Rasial, The First Necromancer
Upon your arrival at the citadel, Rasial, the First Necromancer, will be waiting for you. He will criticize you for arriving too late to stop his plan of raising his army but too early to defeat him. You won’t fight him; instead, he will send over his Phantom Bodyguard to prove how strong you are and to see if it’s enough to face him. You will see your opponent, Hermod, the Spirit of War in RS3, in front of you.
For this fight, you will only use Necromancy attacks, and you won’t face any difficulties in defeating him since the battle will be in story mode, and you will manage to do so quite easily. However, it is not an easy fight overall because Hermod, the Spirit of War, will summon Armored Phantoms; however, they will only have 50% of the typical hit points.
After you defeat Hermod, you will see Rasial impressed with what you accomplished. He will explain that the Spirit of War can not be defeated only with violence and resurrect it. At this stage of RS3 The Spirit of War Rasial feels you are not ready to face him, and he will suggest you study the works of Duke Orcus and the Necrolords of Daemonheim. These will help you increase your strength, and Rasial will encourage you to ask Death to teach you more. Although Rasial, the First Necromancer, resurrected Hermond, he will reward you for your victory and will order Angurvadal to stop bothering the city.
Once Rasial finishes his dialogue, you will be teleported, and you must find Kharen again to interact with her. She will encourage you to keep learning and growing to become a better necromancer. She will also offer to take you back to Rasial’s Citadel whenever you want to face Hermod, the Spirit of War, again. With all being said, you just completed the quest!
