Tomes of the Warlock Quest Guide RS3
To begin with Tomes of the Warlock in RS3, you must head to the town square of the City of Um and talk to Death; you’ll find him east of the lodestone. He will tell you about how it is time to learn more about the last apprentice of Rasial, Duke Orcus. The demon duke was a Zarosian, and because of his distinctive beliefs, Death was not able to guide his soul. As a result, there are only fragments of knowledge about Duke Orcus. Accept the quest, and Death will tell you to seek information about Orcus from Dr. Nabanik at the Kharid-et Dig Site.
Dr. Nabanik & Dr. Engelbert
Upon your arrival at the Kharid-et Dig Site, you must find and speak with Dr. Nabanik about Orcus. During the dialogues, you will obtain more information about the demon duke, who was a necromancer and cult leader. Likewise, Dr. Nabanik will suggest bringing a restored Necromancer focus to the Head of Research in the Exam Center to gain more insights. For this assigned task in RS3 Tomes of the Warlock, you must head to the Archaeology Guild’s Exam Center.
Once you are in the Archaeology Guild, talk to the Head of Research, Dr. Engelbert. You will present him with the restored Necromantic focus to unveil a revelation: the Orconomicon. It is a book that is part of a series related to Orcus. Ask him about each book of the series in any order (Blood, Smoke, Ice, and Shadow). When you finish asking him about each book, you must embark on the next stage of Tomes of the Warlock in RS3. You must hunt the books down, and fortunately, you can complete this endeavor in any order.
The Books
After you gather all the information about the books, it’s time to head to any of them. You can start your hunt wherever you want, but we recommend you start with the Ice Book since you need to start somewhere. This book is in Varrock Palace Library. Teleport there and speak to Reldo about RS3 Tomes of the Warlock. You will go through some dialogues, and he will give you the damaged Ice Book at the end of it.
The following books you must find are the Smoke and Blood Books. In Varrock, you must head to the Varrock Magic Shop to meet Aubury and ask about the tomes. Sadly, he will explain he doesn’t have the books, but you can visit the Wizard Borann at the Wizard’s Tower. So, it’s time to make your way to the Wizard’s Tower. On the west side of the ground floor, you will meet Borann. Talk to him to obtain the damaged Book of Smoke, and he will redirect you to the Wizard’s Guild in Yanille to find the Book of Blood. Make your way there, and once you are in the Wizard’s Guild, find and talk with Wizard Frumscone in the basement to obtain the damaged Book of Blood.
For your next step in Tomes of the Warlock in RS3, and with 3 of 4 books with you, make your way to Menaphos Grand Library and meet with Kohnen, the librarian, to retrieve the Shadow Book. During your conversation with Kohnen, he will mention the following: “If ever such a book were found here, well, you can stick it where the sun doesn't shine” because there is no place for this book inside the library.
Kohnen won’t give you the last book himself because you must go to the bottom of the library and inspect the Sundial to obtain the damaged Book of Shadow. Now, with all the books on your person, return to the Head of Research and talk about RS3 Tomes of the Warlock again. Then, it’s time to restore the books.
Books Restoration
When you complete the dialogue with Dr. Engelbert, head to the Archaeologist’s Workbench. To complete the restoration, you will need to use the following items: 120 Ancient Vis, 104 Blood of Orcus, and 80 Imperial Steel. Once you finish this step of Tomes of the Warlock in RS3, return to the Head of Research with all the books in your hands.
He will uncover glyphs from the books, and a research project will appear with the name Nom-Nom-Nom-Nom. This will offer you an option to delve into the hidden secrets of the books after you complete the quest. With all of this information, return to Death and talk to him about your findings. During this conversation, you will find evidence that Duke Orcus sought out Rasial The First Necromancer for guidance. Moreover, you will learn that Rasial was a mortal man, and finding his tomb might be the key to stopping him.
Once you finish your conversation with Death, head to Ted at the Well of Souls and talk to him; he will help you decipher four passages inscribed in the glyphs. These passages have several incantations, which are ready for your use. With everything completed, this will mark the end of the quest!
